saturday + waking up at 6:00am = volunteering for habitat in hendersonville, nc
it was an early morning but i did manage to remember the camera and extra batteries for our trip to the mountains for the day. our church (watershed--see below video) had a service project day to hendersonville, north carolina where our team helped build habitat homes for the day.
we had a great time and enjoyed meeting new people from our church and breaking a sweat doing manual labor...that's a general statement as i personally did not really quite break a sweat but there were some in our group that did. i am not one for quote "building a house" but i do a great job at taking pictures of others building and encouraging them on with their great, sweating and rewarding efforts. :) the guys and a few girls put a roof up on the one house, some of us did landscaping work and later the landscapers did stucco on the basement exterior. it was a fun time especially the stucco-fight with rachael and ashley!
seriously though, it was a great day making a house for someone and knowing that they would get a chance to be a proud house owner one day soon. it was very relaxing being out of the city--we even stopped at an apple stand for some mountain grown apples for some kind of apple dessert later this week. yum!

Awesome!
I'm so excited to hear that your church had a service day! Our church has one coming up this Saturday. We're going to be doing all kinds of projects around the community, of course I'll probably stick to taking pictures! What a great way to grow as the body of christ and to witness to those around you at the same time. Glad it was so fun and it looks like great weather too! Jamie, you look like you know what you're doing!!!
How great - what a fabulous way to be Jesus to other people!!!
